The event reflects specificities and crossings of art practices between new cinema and contemporary art, explores media art practices and their critical purposes, and work out this necessary time when points of view meet and are exchanged.
The event aims at presenting those works to a broad audience, at creating circulations between different art practices and between different audiences, as well as creating new exchanges between artists, filmmakers and professionals. The 'Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/Madrid', is an event without competition supported by French, German, Spanish and international cultural institutions.

MELBOURNE ART FAIR 2008
Melbourne Art Fair, Australia's premier international visual arts event returns to the World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens, Melbourne from 30 July - 3 August 2008. Over 3,000 contemporary artworks including Paintings, Works on Paper, Sculpture, Photography to Digital Media and Video, will be showcased under one roof at the 11th Biennial Melbourne Art Fair 2008.
More than 900 artists will be represented by over 80 leading national and international galleries from all states and territories of Australia; as well as from New Zealand, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Switzerland, Germany and Ireland during the 4-day event.
Rarely is such a diverse collection of artists from so many countries represented under one roof. Melbourne Art Fair offers artists and galleries alike the opportunity to exhibit work on a significantly larger scale than the gallery setting; and in turn gives the public a fantastic chance to view and purchase quality artwork by some of the best Australian and international emerging and well-known artists working today.
One of the highlights of Melbourne Art Fair is the commissioned works, which are positioned within the Royal Exhibition Building and gifted to an Australian institution at the conclusion of the Fair. In 2008 two prominent Australian artists have been commissioned to realize large-scale works that will be unveiled during the 4-day event. 2006 saw contemporary New Zealand artist, Michael Parekowhai create Cosmo, a monumental inflated rabbit sculpture standing 8m high x 5m wide, later gifted to the National Gallery of Victoria.
Exhibiting artists include: Brook Andrew (Aust), James Angus (Aust), Billy Apple (NZ), Lyndall Brown & Charles Green (Aust), Daniel Buren (France), Ian Burns (Aust), Martin Creed (UK), Li Dafang (China), Hayden Fowler (NZ), David Griggs (Aust), Claire Healy & Sean Cordeiro (Aust), David Hookey (Aust), Callum Innes (Scotland), Silvana & Gabriella Mangano (Aust), Samuel Namunidja (Aust), Tomoko Sawada (Japan), Julie Rrap (Aust), Sally Smart (Aust), Louise Weaver (Aust), Ai Weiwei (China).
The Project Rooms include: Damiano Bertoli (Aust), Jonas Dahlberg (Sweden) and Pat Foster and Jen Berean (Aust) curated by Mark Feary; Centre of Contemporary Photography Melbourne; Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces; Joint Hassles; Next Wave Festival, The South Project; Kyungah Ham (South Korea); and, Anne Zahalka (Aust) at Sofitel Melbourne.
All components of Melbourne Art Fair directly benefit the work of living artists. Over it's 20-year history, the Fair has generated a wealth of national and international commercial and critical attention for artists and galleries. The 2006 Fair was attended by over 26,000 people and provided living artists with over AUD $6M from sales. Presented by the Melbourne Art Fair Foundation - a not-for-profit organisation with its primary goal being the promotion of contemporary art, the ethical representation of living artists and raising awareness of artists working today- the Melbourne Art Fair is a breakeven event that takes no revenue from the sale of artworks.

While you design the speakers, if you design 2.0 and 2.1 speaker system, they should be part of one collection, you could select to work on any of them as a single project, but your chance is bigger if you design both.
Third oprtion is „your idea and that is special category, you should give your best. Guideline for this product design that we would like small devices like desk mp3 player with watch, speaker system for IPOD, BoomBOX and everything else you could imagine with accent on innovations, great design and idea.

ILLUSTRATIVE ZURICH 2008
From October 17th to October 26th ILLUSTRATIVE's 4th forum of illustrative an graphic arts will take place in the Zurich Messehallen. Conceived in 2006 by Pascal Johanssen and Katja Kleiss in Berlin, ILLUSTRATIVE is an annual forum, and the only one of it's kind worldwide that presents the latest inclinations which run the gamut of illustrative and graphic art in one exhibition.
Illustrative art is fresh, humorous, and easily accessible: the scope of work displayed in ILLUSTRATIVE ranges from psychedelic wall paintings, to erotic neon pop art, while presenting monumental town views, as well as quasi photo-realistic drawings. The special sensitivity to artistic quality and a mix of analogue and digital techniques give a special progressiveness to the illustrative arts. This has decisively influenced the development of contemporary art for some time now.
The latest ILLUSTRATIVE has expanded in comparison to previous years. It now includes a central exhibition, section exhibitions, temporary workshops, and a forum for presentations and conferences.

GRANT PROGRAM FOR YOUNG ARTISTS
The Susan D. Goodman Collection, a private contemporary art collection in New York, announces that it will award its first Goodman Grant to Columbia MFA 2008 graduate Martin Basher. The Goodman Grant was established this year to support young artists to live and work in an international art center while expanding his or her body of work. Basher was selected as the inaugural recipient by an independent selection committee, and will move to Berlin for a period of four months beginning this fall.
The mission statement of my collection is 'support a young artist,' and lately I have been thinking about the meaning of 'support', says Susan Goodman. Purchasing, loaning and showing work is important; but I am seeing that young artists need other forms of support such as mentoring and unique opportunities to expand their context and enrich their life experience. Making the transition from an MFA program to the art world today is difficult. I am hoping to provide Martin with an experience that will challenge and nurture him during this period.
The Susan D. Goodman Collection draws its inspiration from Jay Chiat, a longtime friend and mentor, who was an innovator and passionate collector of contemporary art. Over the past six years, Ms. Goodman has assembled a collection that brings together works from many different artists and countries, resulting in a deeply personal collection that is representative of current ideas, attitudes, and movements. In its first year, the Goodman Grant was made available exclusively to the Columbia MFA 2008 graduates. It includes airfare to and from Berlin, an apartment/studio, and a stipend to pay for art supplies and living expenses. Applications were reviewed by a selection committee consisting of three art-world luminaries: Mark Gisbourne, Jane Neal, and Christian Viveros-Faune. Mark Gisbourne is a critic, art historian, and resident curator of the Rohkunstbau, Germany. Jane Neal focuses her critique and curatorship on the art scene in Central and Eastern Europe and teaches a
class at Oxford University. Christian Viveros-Faune is a critic as well as the curatorial advisor for the art fairs VOLTA (NY) and NEXT (Chicago).
Martin Basher, an artist originally from New Zealand, works in sculpture, painting and print, and focuses his work on our contemporary consumer society and its relationship with the environment. I am thrilled to have this opportunity and am grateful to Ms. Goodman for making this incredible grant possible. I'm over the moon, Basher says. The time in Berlin is going to change my future enormously - my art and my outlook - and for this gift there are simply no words I can come up with that can adequately express my appreciation. It will be life-changing.

VIDEONALE BONN
We are looking for video art which, today, is already part of tomorrow's breeding ground, says Georg Elben, curator of the VIDEONALE 12. Quo vadis video art - this is the question the VIDEONALE at the Bonn Kunstmuseum has addressed every two years since 1984. As of now all artists are invited to apply for the VIDEONALE 12 with a video created in the past two years.
One of the oldest festivals for video art in the world, VIDEONALE 12 will present the latest trends in video art from 26 March to 26 April 2009. There is no set topic for submissions, but only single-channel works can be entered. VIDEONALE 12 will open with a four-day festival featuring a variety of events. The exhibition will run for four weeks, showcasing 40 to 50 video works chosen by an international jury. VIDEONALE has Š always had the advantage, as a kind of film festival for video art, of being able to provide a realistic assessment of the current filmic state of development of this genre. That is what defines its function as an aesthetic gauge. (K.WEST) The works featured at VIDEONALE 12 will be shown in other international institutions following the exhibition at the Bonn Kunstmuseum; the works chosen for VIDEONALE 11 were, among others, shown in 2007 at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid and 2008 at the Bangalore Goethe Institut.
Thinking outside the box - the Bonn videonale is looking for new ways of presenting video art, (Süddeutsche Zeitung) - VIDEONALE is particularly interested in developing new forms of presentation for video art beyond the black box. For the past years each VIDEONALE has commissioned a new team of architects and designers to create an innovative exhibition design, both technically and artistically, for presenting the exhibition in the context of a museum. We are happy about the attention and broad recognition from the specialist audience we have received in the last years for our pioneering work in this field where, so far, only a small number of convincing approaches have been found, says Georg Elben.
The videos presented at VIDEONALE 12 will automatically be taking part in the competition for the videonale award worth 5.000 euros which will be awarded by a second international jury. Application deadline is 31 August 2008. All information and entry forms can be found at www.videonale.org

7TH SHANGHAI BIENNALE 2008
The 7th Shanghai Biennale TRANSLOCALMOTION recently announced this year's names of all participating artists to the public. About 61 artists and artist groups from 21 countries and regions will take part in the event.
TRANSLOCALMOTION examines the dynamic urban space and inhabitants against the background of urbanization. It reflects on the issues of migration, as well as the social, economic, and cultural implications of urbanization. Aware of both the challenges and opportunities in the urbanization process, the exhibition explores how urban growth will contribute to our life.
The curatorial team also stated that Yue Mingjun, Mike Kelly and Lonnie Van Brummelen & Siebren De Haan are three selected artists (artist groups) who will hold their keynote statement during this biennale on the second floor at the Shanghai Art Museum.
'This rather unusual practice was conceived in reaction to a tendency among many biennales to present a vast number of hardly distinguishable artistic positions,' said Zhang Qing, the vice directorat Shanghai Art Museum on behalf of the curatorial team.
According to him, their artworks reflect the theme of the biennale with strong visual effect and profound meanings. For example, Yue Mingjun created a cluster of different sized dinosaur sculptures, of course stapled with his laughing face. Mike Kelly will shows elements from two groups of works visualizing an utopian city of the future while Lonnie Van Brummelen & Siebren De Haan present four silent movies featured on the scene of various boundaries.
The exhibition on the ground floor will introduce the theme of the People's Square as a metaphor for the complex dynamics of the mobility of people in China today.
The third floor will include works of artists who use non-Shanghai sources and contexts as a starting point to reflect TRANSLOCALMOTION and its meaning.
The mezzanine floor will host an exhibition of the history of the People's Square since mid 19th century including photographs, plans and other relevant documents.
Curators:
Zhang Qing, artistic director (Deputy Director of Shanghai Art Museum),
Julian Heynen, curator (Artistic Director of K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf, Germany)
Henk Slager, curator (Dean of Utrecht Graduate School of Visual Art and Design, The Netherlands)
