PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS – What you do

To participate in the residence program, applicants are required to:
be able to participate in the program three months at the minimum, and four months at the maximum (including the period of (de)installation of Open Studio).

be positively motivated in conducting artistic research and / or project besides communicating with other artists and local community

give first priority to the ARCUS Project during the designated residence period, use the studio as the basis of the activities, and notify the Studio Office when leaving studio for certain duration for artistic activities.

The Lemmermann Foundation Scholarship Awards

The Lemmermann Foundation awards scholarships to University students, who need to study in Rome to carry out research and prepare their theses concerning Rome and the Roman culture from the Pre-Roman period to the present day time in the classical studies.

Entry requirements:

Applicants should:

1) be attending a recognized University course;
2) have a basic knowledge of the Italian language.

The monthly scholarship amount is established in 750 euro.

Applicants should also attach the following documents:

1) A description of their area of study;
2) Two letters of reference containing a brief description of the student and his/her course; one from the student's tutor/professor; and one from the head of studies/faculty;
3) A curriculum vitae;
4) A photocopy of the student's passport or a birth certificate.

The Foundation is unable to return any documents sent by the applicants and therefore they are advised NOT to send any original documents. Students resident in Lazio are excluded from the award; for them it is possible to assign an extraordinary grant for research una tantum of 500 euro.

Only works with the release date after May 1, 2007 will be allowed to participate in the competitive sections. Films which are part of a series but can be judged separately may also compete.

The following media formats will be accepted for competition:
35 mm with optical soundtrack; with animated films accept the Betacam SP, DVD. Only animations up to 15 minutes will be accepted to the competition of animated films for children and youth. Other non-competing films will be accepted on the following media: 35 mm, Betacam SP, DVD, DVCAM.

Competing films must be provided with English subtitles by the applicant. Competing films for children, animated films and non-competing films for children of up to 12 years of age are screened in their original version simultaneous interpreting into Czech language provided by the organizer. Other competing films are screened in their original version with English subtitles and at the same time with Czech subtitles provided by the organizer. Non-competing films with the exception of films for children up to 12 years of age are screened in their original version and Czech subtitiles provided by the organizer.

Authors of competing film must provide a Betacam SP, DVDCAM or DVD trailer to be screened during the prize awarding ceremony provided the film is among the winners.

The condition to have the film screened at the Festival is filling in the application form on www.zlinfest.cz, supplying stills of the film and a photo of the film director in print quality (jpg or tiff, at least 300 dpi). For feature film the size of longer side of still has to be minimum 2100 px (20cm - 300 dpi), for animated film the size of longer side of still has to be minimum 1500 px (9cm - 300 dpi) and for director´s photo the size of longer side of photo has to be minimum 800 px (5cm - 300 dpi). The film´s screening is also conditioned by sending the dialogue list in English and a preview VHS or DVD no later than by 13 March 2009. The organizer will inform the applicants about their acceptance in writing no later than by 13 April 2008.

Copies of required films must be delivered to the organizer's address by 18 May 2009. This deadline must be met. When delivering the copies, participants must follow delivery instructions received together with the letter of acceptance of the films. No additional copies can be sent.

For each feature film participating in the competition a delegation consisting of a maximum of 3 people will be invited for a period of 3 nights/4 days; for competing animated films, a 2-member delegation will be invited for 2 nights/3 days. The organizer will cover accommodation. For non-competing films, a 2-member delegation is invited to stay for 1 night/2 days, its accommodation being covered by the organizer as well. The artistic director of the festival can make exceptions to these rules. In cases when a single producer is showing more than one film, the number of delegation members will be negotiated individually with the festival organizers. If the organizer covers travel expenses of guests it is covered by the organizer only and according to the chosen travel company. The organizer does not cover other travel expenses unless it is approved by the organizer.

The organizer undertakes to screen competing films in a non-commercial manner and within the framework of the festival only. By submitting the application, the applicant gives consent to the use of parts of competing films, free of charge and as part of festival promotion, on any Czech TV station, festival TV and on the internet. The trailers must not exceed three minutes for feature films and two minutes for animated films. The applicant also acknowledges that winning films will be provided in the VHS od DVD format to the Film Festival Zlin archive.

PARTICIPATION RULES

All the companies, videomakers and producers will be admitted to participate sending us a work about dance belonging to one of the following categories:

· A- Recordings of shows or studio processing of shows
· B - Video creations
· C - Documentaries and/or ethnic dances
· D - Computer-aided works and multimedia works on CD Rom
· E - Video creation related to the World of Art

Participants have to:

Compile the online entry form on our web site, in each part ( as correct and complete as possible) for each video subscribed

Mail us a DVD copy of the video, PAL format only, which will remain as part of the Napolidanza videodance archive and will be used only for not commercial purposes.

1 CD containing at least two still photos in JPEG format about the video, including the back stage working and write information on the support itself (avoid paper prints).

1 CD containing a brief outline (in .doc or .pdf format) about the content of the video (even with printed page attached).

The folder must be sent to the address below.

Napolidanza helps finding pre-established hotel accomodation by request for all participants and anybody wishing to attend the Festival.

Jan van Eyck Academie

Artists, designers and theoreticians are invited to submit research and production proposals to become a researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academie. The application deadline is 15 April 2009.

The Jan van Eyck Academie is an institute for research and production in the fields of fine art, design and theory. Every year, 48 international researchers realise their individual or collective projects in the artistic and critical environment that is the Jan van Eyck. In doing so, they are advised by a team of artists, designers and theoreticians who have won their spurs globally. All in all, the Jan van Eyck offers artists, designers and theoreticians time and space to do research and realise productions, either about topics of their own choosing or as part of a project formulated by the institute itself.

Artists, designers and theoreticians at the Jan van Eyck Academie work alongside each other and establish cross-disciplinary exchange. The academy is not led by predetermined leitmotivs. Artists, designers and theoreticians can submit independently formulated proposals for research and/or production in the departments of Fine Art, Design and Theory.

Programme:
The multi-disciplinary research projects are the basis for the Jan van Eyck programme. Researchers, departments and the institute organise various weekly activities, to which special speakers are invited: lectures, seminars, workshops, screenings, exhibitions, discussions, … These activities are announced on the website and via email.
The Fine Art department
offers a unique space for experimentation, production, reflection and debate. Fine Art researchers conduct high-quality research in an environment that encourages the questioning of the assumptions, forms, meanings and contexts that are tied in with the practice of making art today. The fine arts department welcomes artists, individuals and groups, without stipulating conditions regarding form, content and media.

Design
The Design department focuses on design as research, discourse and publishing. It initiates and supports research projects in the areas of cultural and corporate identity, mapping, print and new media publishing, urban and regional identity, and book design.

The department expressly solicits individual designers to propose and carry out their own research in exchange with the institute's array of events and presentations. While, formerly, the department used to focus on graphic and communication design, it has since widened its scope to include spatial, product and service design.

Theory
The Theory department is an international platform for reflection and research. Its mission is to create the opportunity for outstanding researchers to explore alternative ways of shaping their intellectual horizons by providing a stimulating environment for critical inquiry and intense debate. The Theory department welcomes applications from researchers of unusual promise who pursue their artistic and/or intellectual view of the interface of critical theory, philosophy, aesthetics and psychoanalysis with the visual arts.
